Situated in the north-western area of the island of Crete, the low-lying coastal region of Kolymvari holds a long tradition in the production of supreme quality extra virgin olive oil. The cultivation of the olive tree is greatly flavoured here by a rich, loamy soil naturally irrigated by streams crossing mountainous and semi-mountainous areas before bringing their deposits to the coastal areas of Kolymvari. Mild winters with a great deal of humidity, dry summers, long periods of sunshine and chill winds harmonically combine to capitalize on the uniqueness of the soil, allowing for an incomparable match of micro climate and soil to be formed.
