Warlis are tribal who live in Thane district in the hinterland of Maharashtra , in simple dwellings of clay and reed plastered with cow dung. Basically the tribal has intense faith in their own deities whom they love to depict through various forms of arts especially during religious festivals, weddings and other rituals.

This tradition has become the genesis of one of the most creative and ethnic arts of India and has started hitting the overseas market with a global recognition as well.

Unlike the other Indian folk arts, Warlis do not narrate mythology or epic but depicts their austere social life by dint of sketching different geometric objects.
