S.P Enterprise established in 2002 is an export house that deals exclusively with Muga or golden silk as it is popularly known of Assam, IndiaThe company in a short span of time since its inception has developed a sound business rapport with several buyers due to the purity of our silk and the quality of service that we offer.
Muga silk has its origin in Assam,India. It has an inspired location on the banks of the river Brahmaputra. It is on this valley that Assam produces one of the worlds highest prized and finest wild silks, the muga or the golden silk as it is popularly known. It is a traditional industry which dates back to very ancient times. A naturally rich golden colour, it has the botanical name of Antherea Assama caterpillar which feeds on leaves of the som (Machilus Bombycine) and Soalu trees (Litsea Polyantha).It is a wild caterpillar that is reared outdoors and from this is produced the beautiful, exotic and the strongest natural fiber known.
Muga silk is exclusive only to the state of Assam and not produced anywhere in the world.

PROPERTIES

1.Naturally rich hand woven golden colour which has the quality of appearing like spun gold .
2.Texture is lustrous and the sheen is enhanced due to its natural glow.
3.Durability up to a period of fifty years and more is a known fact. As the fabric ages its golden luster increases. Garments made
of muga outlasts other fibers.
4.Eco-friendly hand woven textile due to non-usage of chemicals. Hence its golden sheen and soft texture is retained.
5.Tensile strength is the highest among all fibers. It is the strongest Natural fiber known.
6.According to preference, muga silk can attain either a fine
Texture by simple ironing or a crushed crepe look after washing The fabric, leaving it unironed.
7.Washing the fabric frequently does not harm the silk. Any
Washing material can be used on the silk. In fact with very wash the quality of muga gets finer and softer.
8.Embroidery of any kind of any thread can be done on muga silk
9.Muga silk filament due its less porosity cannot be bleached and hence cannot be dyed.


SCIENTIFIC PROPERTIES

1. Muga silk has 30% moisture regain capacity. Moisture absorbing Capacity is better than other silks .
2.Stain free fabric.
3.Experiments conducted on the ultra violet filtering properties of muga silk and Scientifically tested has proved that muga silk absorbs 85.08% of the harmful ultra violet rays in sunlight thus protecting the skin.
