Performance
RedAgent stands out in a new generation of computer activity monitoring products, one of its highlights being the data-collection feature. Unlike traditional spyware products running in user mode, this operation is performed by RedAgent in kernel mode.
The systems running in user mode monitor computer activity by accessing the log files created by the operating system and by the programs running on the monitored system. The main drawback of this method is depending on the log files generated by the operating system and associated applications; these may easily be deleted by users or the source application. Unlike traditional monitoring systems, RedAgent runs in kernel mode, the monitoring process relying on intercepting the communication between the operating system and the respective drivers.
Any call launched to the operating system passes through the RedAgent ‘filter’ made up of specialized drivers that collect the data and relay it to the RedAgent service that manages their storage on the server database (or locally, in case of temporary loss of connection to the server).
