Handmade is a coming together of art and design enthusiasts with the sole purpose of reviving dying and sometimes forgotten crafts of India. Crafts are an integral part of Indian culture. Every nook and corner of this vast country boasts of some contribution to the world of crafts. At the same time, however, some of them have disappeared and some are on the verge.

Reasons are many, ranging from lack of innovation to commercial non-viability. With the extinction of a craft, families dependant on them for survival also perish for want of an alternative livelihood. The craft itself isn’t weak; in fact, some of the craftsmen are the best hands in the world. And yet over a period of time, there is no craftsman left who knows the traditions and has the knowledge to bring it back to life when the tide of fashion comes around.

Since they are totally handmade, they cannot be mass produced.
