AX series Ethylene Oxide Gas Sterilizers with trademark of AXIS are full automatic instruments to be used for sterilization of all kinds of plastic, rubber, sensitive, metallic, mechanical and electromechanical medical and surgical materials and laboratory equipment, resistant or nonresistant to heat, by using ethylene oxyde (C2H4O) gas, an antibacterial agent, in 54°C.
This is one of the new generation sterilizers, which provides all procedures and needs for sterilizers within the working modes, as well as gives priority to users safety, and brings with it the advantages of practical performance and usage, no risk structure, wide using volume, low gas consuming, modular use, negative pressure and computerized working system.
Thanks to its new technology, the needs for infrastructure such as pressured air, water, vacuum line, drenage channels needed by conventional gas sterilizers have been removed and amount of materials which can be sterilized in the same level has been increased significantly. One of its advantages is the ability to add or remove materials modularly while working.
Using cartridges containing 100% ethylene oxide for sterilization gas maximizes the sterilization safety.
AXIS gas consumption is only 1/10 of its competitors. Each gas cartridge contains 11 gram. Thus, user and system safety increases, less amounts of gas is consumed and environmental pollution decreases.
Ventilation after sterilization is being performed in the same cabin, thus residual ethylene oxyde leftovers are removed.

If the sterilization temperature is 54 °C
Sterilization time : 1 hour (minimum)
Ventilation time : 12 hours (minimum)
If the sterilization temperature is 38 °C
Sterilization time : 4.5 hours (minimum)
Ventilation time : 36 hours (minimum)
Based on the criteria mentioned above, a working program of 16 hours (1 hour preparations, 3 hours sterilization, 12 hours ventilation) is being performed. Shortening the time or decreasing the sterilization temperature may negatively affect sterilization and user’s safety, and therefore have been left out of the operator’s control.
Shortening these periods of time to present them as advantages will lead to ethylene oxide residuals on the equipment.
Instrument’s furnace is under negative pressure throughout all stages. Therefore, any gas leakage that may occur will not affect physically to the user, but will be discharged rapidly through the chimney.
Sterilization is performed in kits base, and each kit includes the followings :
a. 100% Ethylene oxide gas cartridge
b. Liner Bag
c. Humidity chip
d. Dosimeter
Equipment to be sterilized practically are put in the Liner Bag together with the gas cartridge, humidity chip and dosimeter, and its opening is closed. As a matter of fact, Liner Bag is a special gas diffusion membrane, and made of a gas and air permeable material. It gives the sterilization gas to the outer milieu and performs the ventilation in itself. While conventional sterilizers discharges minimum 250 gram gas within 10 seconds, AXIS sterilizer enables to discharge 11 gram gas within 3 hours via slow release. So that, even Liner Bag is used in a room that is ventilated out of the instrument, toxical level of the gas is never occurred in the room, and the safe limits determined by OSHA is not exceeded.
Furthermore, Liner Bag creates a secondary space within the instrumet’s cabin. As a matter of fact, the sterilization cell of the instrument is made by separately Liner Bags. It is likely to be exposed to gas when opening instrument’s lid in the conventional sterilizers.
