The islands vines tell a story of their own, frequently with a Spanish accent. The Mediterranean stalwarts are there in the various clones of Moscato and Malvasia, but several other varieties are unique in Italy, such as Girò, Cannonau, Nuragus, Moni ca, Semidano, Torbato and Vernaccia di Oristano...
Founded in the South of Sardinia more than 80 years ago, the Company’s vineyard covers about 700 hectares that are cultivated with the most important varieties of the Sardinian tradition, including: Ca nn onau, Vermentino, Monica, Nuragus, Muscat and Nasco.
Over the past decades new varieties have also been introduced such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Syrah and Chardonnay grapes, that have enriched the oenological potential of the area.
The mor phol ogical characteristics of the territory, proximity to the sea, the Mediterranean climate and the natural flora, give this Company’s grapes unique and unrepeatable characteristics.
The winery produces a wide variety of white and red wines:
D. O.C. w ines: - Denominazione di Origine Controllata. This qualification refers to the guarantee of origin of the grapes and adherence to the methods specified in the regulations governing the production of the wine. The production codes delimit the zone s in whi ch the wines originate and specify type (or types, since a denomination may include a range of versions), colour, grape varieties, minimum alcohol levels, maximum yields in grapes per vine per hectare and wine from grapes, basic sensor y characte ristics, m aturation (in wood or otherwise and possibly in sealed tanks), required minimum periods of aging and special designations identifying particular sub-zones
I.G.T. wines: These wines are identified with specific territories, most of which are larger than the zones specified in the regulations for DOCs. The IGT regulations require use of authorized varieties and most of the production codes adopted to date provide for the use of one type alone or in a ratio of at least 85% to o ther approved grapes.
“Vi ni da Tavola”: Italian term Vino da tavola means, literally, table wine. In reality, it refers to wines without appellations or ordinary wines. In the Italian sense of the term Vino da tavola, is a non-denomination. There a re no regulation s for the catego ry beyond those imposed by health, safety and fiscal authorities, which are of general application.
