N,N-Dimetyl Acrylamide(DMAA/NNDMA,cas#2680-03-7) is a multi-application monomer. DMAA can be used in various fields, reflecting physical properties of monomers and polymers mentioned previously. Listed below are some of its applications in patents and literatures.
*NNDMA is quickly polymerized by radical chain reaction initiators. It can perform solution polymerization, emulsification polymerization, suspended polymerization, and block polymerization.
*Atactic polymer is soluble in wide range of polar solvents such as water, methanol, methyl cellosolve, methyl ethylketone, dioxane etc., and remarkably swells when dissolved in ethyl acetate or toluene.
Its superior hydrophilicity is exemplified by the fact that a totally stiff bone dry state of NNDMA polymer quickly becomes soft by absorbing moisture in the air. Standing at 65% RH, NNDMA reaches water content of more than 40%.
*When standing the free flow formation by blending NNDMA polymer with various polymers in liquid state, polyvinyl acetate showed the best compatible solubility to NNDMA, polymethyl methacrylate and polystyrene in the descending order . A well proportioned blend film was obtained for each polymer when blending amount of polymer NNDMA, it will allow a higher maximum content of NNDMA to maintain a proportioned blend. As for congenial melting polymers, polyamide and polyester bland well with polymer NNDMA....
