The company is privately owned by three partners. The headquarters of the company founded in 2005 in Linz (in Upper Austria) employs 15 workers. Underground_8’s solutions combine the most modern security features such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Traffic Shaping, Quality of Service, high availability, virus protection, Spam protection, content filtering and Application Level Firewall in one system, and simultaneously offers simple and well-designed operation. Customers We have installed appliances for customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA in size ranges of up to 1500 network users. The primary customer target group is small and medium-sized businesses and the public sector. Finance The Underground_8 Secure Computing GmbH was founded in 2005, financed by the current partners themselves. As part of the company’s rapid growth, Underground_8 Secure Computing GmbH was incorporated into the Tech2B High-tech Incubator. A large part of the money was used to construct the technological platform for Underground_8 Secure Computing GmbH. With the support of PE, we were able to continue on our course of expansion in 2006, and leave the incubator successfully. Today the company has more than 20 employees in the Linz and Vienna facilities. Sales Indirect sales occur via a network of qualified resellers in Europe. Products Underground_8 bundles its solutions into two product lines: the MF series – Managed Firewall Appliance for up to 500 users, and the TS Series – Traffic Shaping Appliance for up to 1000 users and above. In this way, the business covers the demands of small to medium-sized businesses, as well as large companies.
