Jutawan Muda Enterprise (hereafter referred to as Jutawan) was incorporated in 1995 as a legal business entity in accordance with the Malaysian Government requirement. In the initial stages the company was mainly involved in general trading and contracting then later ventured into the export market. We ventured into exporting various types of products from computer parts, building materials, electrical items and food products in a very small manner. During the 1998 recession there was a sudden change in the market trend plus the inconsistent currency value which affected greatly the business of the company and practically brought it to a standstill. Due to the limited resources in terms of capital to finance the purchases (to pay suppliers before shipment), Jutawan was not able to expand its business even though it had clients who were able to establish confirmed irrevocable letters of credits from prime banks. In mid 2003, Jutawan was converted to an export management company to carry on its business. As an export management company, Jutawan sources its own suppliers and foreign buyers for its products and before finalization / confirmation of sales finds a local company (financer) to finance the transaction. All payments, LC’s documentations of the transactions are done through the local company (financer). In this situation Jutawan’s future business is not protected as the financers have full access and contact to both the suppliers and the purchasers and furthermore, despite our efforts we only receive a marginal commission. This has become the primary reason for Jutawan to secure trade financing from a recognized financial institution. Our main objectives are to develop our own “Brands” and to deliver quality products to its customers’ worldwide and to build a solid customer base (something similar to EAC Malaysia and Behn Meyers). Products can be sold and bought but brands are not. We understand brands are associated with lifestyle and as such the brand can command a premium of minimum 5% and above from ordinary products. Upon the availability of the necessary funds, Jutawan will venture into developing its own brands. Our business revolves around the following four areas :- a) Manufacturer b) Exporter c) Cargo Consolidation
