SKODA, HUTE, Plzen, s.r.o., having its headquarter in Plzen, Czech Republic, is a daughter company of Russian OMZ Group. At the present time SKODA, HUTE, Plzen, s.r.o. employs 500 people, annual turnover in 2004 was about 700 mil. CZK (ca 23 mil. EUR). The core business activity is production of small lots or single item castings made of ferrous metals for customers coming from different industries. Company has its own pattern making shop producing tooling for the needs of foundry as well as for external customers. Part of this shop is a furniture workshop capable to deliver entire interiors solutions. Part of the company is a machine shop dedicated to the rough machining and/or final machining of some casting features. Technical capabilities: * steel castings - one piece weight in the range of 5 - 250 metric tons, dimensions up to 4x10 meters or 6.3 meters in diameter * grey/ductile iron - one piece weight in the range of 1.5 - 150 metric tons, dimensions up to 4x10 meters or 6.0 meters in diameter The utilized technology is based on hand molding into flasks or caissons, sand mixture is air-set (self-hardened resin binder). Molten metal is being produced in electric arc or induction furnaces, there are several possibilities in the ladle metallurgy. Shot blasted and cleaned castings are heat treated, non-destructive tested and weld repaired, if necessary. Based upon customer request the product delivered is rough or final machined casting. SKODA, HUTE, Plzen, s.r.o. is a holder of ISO 9001-2000 certificate. Export to the foreign countries represents approx. 80% of total output. Main customers are in power generation business (steam, gas and water turbine bodies and other parts, wind energy pilot parts), metal forming (mill housings, stocks, anvils, chocks), shipbuilding industry (rudder parts, propulsions, engine blocks) and general engineering (cement mill parts, offshore, presses).
